Time Travel

So, I discover today that some of these are not going to align as easily as I originally thought.  The original shots for Epping Forest Then and Now were shot by Reginald Fowkes ARPS who shot images on film to appear on the same page,  where as I am attempting to align them on top of each other.

The picture Reginald shot of this scene is taken from further up the road than the original shot and so does not quite align exactly.  I chose to align with Reginalds shot as there are more points to match,  I guess this sort of decision will come up for almost every shot I try to recreate.

And so this project starts.  This first shot has taken a lot of effort to produce,  it turns out that lining up the work of 3 different photographers in 3 different centuries is decidedly a non-trivial task.  It requires the use of features in photoshop that I have never had reason to use before,  hopefully I will learn as I go an things will get much quicker.
